Bum Marketing, or The Bum Marketing Method in simple terms is a way to sell a product online with no out of pocket expense. The term Bum Marketing was coined by Travis Sago and is a philosophy on Internet Marketing that uses free methods to drive traffic to an affiliate site in order to make a sale and get a commission.
In no way does this method have to do with being lazy or un-motivated; it's simply a way of doing business that a lot of folks must use when they first start out because they have limited funds to invest in a new business.
The idea behind the actual words, bum marketing, is that you could take any bum off the street and take them to a library with an Internet connection and actually set up a free web page, drive traffic to it using free methods and sell a product that someone else has developed and get an affiliate commission.
In no way does this term signify that bums are lazy or worthless. It simply means that they have chosen a life for themselves that has a limited income stream and any endeavor would require little to no money to accomplish... Which is exactly where a lot of us need to start!
So, does this type of business plan really work? Absolutely! Thousands of folks all across the planet are using free sources to drive traffic to a free site they have put together and are earning thousands of dollars in affiliate commission.
There are a lot of great resources online to learn how to do this effectively but it is not as easy as a lot of these guys make it out to be, hence my earlier mention that Bum Marketing does not imply one is lazy or un-motivated. The reverse is actually true.
If you had money you could do PPC or buy traffic or outsource a lot of the work that must be done to drive traffic to your websites. With this method, you must write articles, develop the web pages those articles will link to and constantly tweak your system by doing keyword research and experimenting with the type of content you provide.
You must also be adept at knowing where to submit your articles, how to build back links, putting together an effective Squidoo lens and a myriad of other daily task that you are on your own to make sure gets done.
If your funds are limited, then Bum Marketing is the only way to go to get your business up and running. This method works for those that commit to it and do it properly and it can work for you as well... you just have to do it!
